Well not quite. I used to play in a band called Device and to be honest we weren’t that good. We only played live a few times, but did manage to get airplay on Radio 1. We’d tried doing covers but really couldn’t do them that well. For example the first gig we played on the third song we all started playing different songs to each other and the crowd didn’t even notice - all three of them. After about a year the Skreemin’ Abdabs broke up after an arguement about ‘creative differences’.

Anyway the guitarist and myself decided to form a new band - Device (various spellings - DeVice, De Vice, D’vice etc). To get over our lack of playing ability we decided.

It’s been over a month since I last posted, and have been averaging 1 a month for a while now!!!! There are a number of reasons for this some are personal which I feel don’t need to be shared here (those who know me will know what they are). One of the main things that has happened is that I have changed jobs and moved back into IT (yipeee). I now work for what used to be marriage giudance (before you comment I am not a counsellor). They are moving their central office up from Rugby and have moved into a shiny new building. We have currently settled on a hardware contractor so things will be moving ahead quickly from now on - not that I haven’t been busy for the last month.

Currently we have a mish-mash of hardware, are using software that will be replaced by a new system (hopefully) in November and have just trained call centre staff. The software is starting to bee rolled out to offsite telephone counsellors, who are not conducive to change??.

Anyway good news there will be a post earlier next month as I’ve just realised that there is a 15th anniversary coming up - I’ll let you know then.

Oh, I will be seeing Uncle Ade in October as we’re going to see Rush at Sheffield

It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything, so here goes.

I’ve quit my current job and a start working for Relate (a relationship counselling charity for those not in the UK (hi Jim)) as an IT Technician on Monday. I have made some good friends at BT and will miss them all.

Garden’s coming on and we are now picking winter grown peas and broad beans, new potatoes and beetroot. I hope to take some photo’s over the weekend if it stops raining

Other than that, not too much has happened…

I recently saw a headline in one of the national papers that stated

2 drinks a day linked to cancer

This got me thinking (strange I know) what has the study actually found? I assume that there has been a study of cancer patients and that has found that a greater percentage of those studied usually drink more than 2 units a day. This is held up as proof.

I was going into town on Sunday (22nd April) when all of a sudden the traffic ground to a halt. As we sat there and waited, I suddenly realised that it was the traditional St Georges Day parade that grinds the traffic to a halt. I sat there looking out of the window for about 15 minutes as all the Scouts, Guides etc. trooped past, and thought how wonderful that these people at least are celebrating our national day.

We parked in the Market Place car park and walked to the town centre only to pass a sign, with the councils ‘logo’ plastered all over it, saying “Happy Vaishali” - a sikh celebration that marks the creation of the Khalsa.

No sign from Doncaster council marking our patron saints day - though they probably don’t know who that is
