Sam has been at Uni now for about 2 weeks and there is a general view (sterotypical of course) of students being scruffy, lazy people who live on pot noodles, cornflakes and biscuits, who stay out until 6 in the morning and stay in bed until the afternoon. This applies to Sam … mainly - he is scruffy, lazy, stay out til 6 in the morning and in bed until 3 in the afternoon.
If you read the previous post then you will know that we took Sam shopping yesterday - he used to eat us out of house and home before he moved out, so we thought we would get him started. I was envisioning buying lots of tins of beans, soup, tomatoes and perhaps the ingedients for a spag bol. Well, we did indeed buy ingredients for spag bol, as well as 4 differnt sorts of dried herbs, fresh parsly, lemon grass, horseradish sauce, 2 packs of mince and a sirloin steak:shock:. That’s right sirloin steak, no pot noodles, no cornflakes (fruit ‘n’ fibre) - we did buy chocolate covered digestives as a treat.
At least there was alcohol on the shopping list, so perhaps my view of students was about to be restored. My illusions were completely shattered when it turned out to be 2 bottles of Beaujolais and 4 expensive bottles of foreign beer.
